Meet Our Insurance Professionals

President of Brown & Company, Sharon has worked in the insurance business for over twenty years. She has been instrumental in Brown & Company being one of the most respected brokerages in the region. Specializing in employee benefits she concentrates on designing and managing cost efficient benefit plans including self-insured programs. Throughout her career, Sharon has focused exclusively on the needs of her clients. This dedication has earned her a loyal client base, averaging a 15 year relationship with each client.
Sharon holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University. In addition she has earned and maintained the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). In addition to working with clients she has served on numerous charitable organization’s boards and continually works for the betterment of her community and industry.
Bryan P. Brown, CFP bryan@bcins.netBryan, Vice-President of Brown & Company, has been with the firm since 2002. He has 10 years of experience in employee benefits and individual life and health insurance. Bryan is responsible for new client development and ongoing oversight of health and welfare plans for employer groups of all sizes and industries. His focus includes insured and self-funded Life, Health, Dental, and Disability arrangements, as well as consumer-directed concepts such as Health Savings Accounts (HSA). Prior to Brown & Company, Bryan worked as a group representative for CNA Insurance Companies in Houston, Texas.
Bryan graduated from Texas A&M University in 1998. He has also earned the qualifications of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) through the University of North Texas. Community involvement is very important to Bryan, and he currently serves on many committees and boards.
Richard S. Smith, CLU richard@bcins.netRichard founded Brown & Company’s predecessor company, Richard S. Smith & Associates in 1978. Now a Principal of Brown & Company, he specializes in mid to large employee benefit accounts as well as individual life and estate planning. His primary objective is that his clients are adequately covered and aware of the risks that business owner’s face. Richard’s vast knowledge of the insurance industry and dedication to his clients has earned him much respect in the community.
In addition to holding the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation, Richard earned a Bachelors Degree from The University of Texas at Dallas and has been a member of the exclusive Million Dollar Round Table. Richard is the past president of the Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation and served different boards and committees in many capacities.
Liz Hamff liz@bcins.netLiz, an Account Executive with Brown & Company, joined the firm in 2004. Her strengths are employee benefits and individual health insurance. Before becoming an Account Executive and focusing on production, Liz was involved in the service and account management side of the business. This experience has proven to be invaluable as she works to grow her clientele.
Liz holds a Business degree from Texas A&M University and currently is involved with several local business groups and non-profit organizations, including the Twin City Mission.
Larry Hubbell, CBC larry@bcins.netAs Senior Account Executive with Brown & Company, Larry has over 20 years of experience in insured and self-funded medical plans and various employee benefit coverages. He is also very active in multiple employer groups and has secured several endorsements from various association groups. Prior to Brown & Company, Larry was President of FH Marketing, Inc. and provided insurance services focusing on the healthcare industry.

He is a distinguished businessman, a community leader, and an expert in employee benefits with over 23 years of health insurance experience in the Brazos Valley. Having Ron will solidify our commitment to having a strong and experienced insurance team delivering outstanding service and innovative solutions to our clients.
Mark Wall mark@bcins.netMark heads up our Houston office and is a valuable asset in that area. He has the ability to reach out to small and mid-size businesses who may not have had access to a service focused insurance broker in the past.
Mark graduated from the University of Houston in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He honed his customer service skills in retail management over the last 10 years. Mark entered the insurance industry 3 ½ years ago and retains his dedication to customer service from past experience. Our Houston office will retain the high level of customer service that our clients have come to expect.

Joe began his career in the Financial Services Industry in 1982 with MetLife. While at MetLife, he was successful as an Account Representative and later became both an Agency Manager and a Regional Training Director. He has had extensive experience in the marketing of life, dental and vision products. Currently, he specializes in providing Brown & Company's employer groups with voluntary benefits through his work with Colonial Supplemental Insurance. Joe is dedicated to providing strong customer service to Brown & Company's clients.
Joe is a member of the Houston Chapter of NAIFA and has earned his LUTCF certification and has taught both LUTC and AMTC courses. He is a graduate of Abilene Christian University.
Jennifer "Bunny" Pratt bunny@bcins.net
Bunny joined Brown & Company in September 2004 as a Marketing Specialist. Now an Account Manager, she is responsible for the day to day service and marketing needs of her clients. She also serves as IT director, overseeing websites, newsletters and other agency technology functions. Her positive disposition, strong technical background and initiative serve the agency and her clients well each day.
Bunny graduated in 1995 with a BS from Texas A&M University. In addition to her Account Manager responsibilities, Bunny serves as a community liaison. She is involved in many local organizations including the Bryan Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce.
Amy McKay Rodriguez amy@bcins.netAmy joined Brown & Company in July of 2010 as an Account Manager and is a native of Bryan/College Station. Amy was a Property & Casualty account manager for two years prior to switching to the employee benefits side of insurance. She volunteers faithfully with Family Promise of Bryan/College Station, the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center of Brazos Valley and her son's school. She also enjoys special event and wedding planning. Amy is a 2005 graduate of Sam Houston State University.
Shara Coufal shara@bcins.netShara joined Brown & Company in September of 2010 as an Account Manager. She extends excellent customer service to all of her clients. Her industry knowledge is an asset to our team. Shara brings 6 years of experience in employee benefits that include utilizing online systems which creates a more friendly enrollment tool for clients as well as back-office systems. Previous to joining Brown & Company she was an Account Manager at Higginbotham & Associates in Fort Worth. Shara is an active mom of 3 and enjoys spending time supporting their school and sports activities.

Kat joined our company in July 2011 as an Office Assistant. She provides great customer service skills to everyone that calls into the office. She updates Brown & Company's Facebook and Twitter page daily, and helps manage our website. She provides graphic design skills, IT help and creates monthly wellness newsletters to our clients. Kat also helps with the Account Manager's daily needs to make sure the office runs smoothly. Kat enjoys spending time with her husband and they are expecting their first child in July 2012. Her hobbies include, watching movies, snowboarding, baseball, and cooking.

Kelsey joined our company in November 2011 as an Account Manager. Kelsey was an Underwriter for MetLife and has been in the insurance industry for about nine years. Kelsey started her career at Northwestern Mutual Life in southern Arizona as an Office Manager. Her hobbies include spending time with her two kids, raising horses, watching movies, and football.
